  Work in pairs to apologize to each other and to respond to the apologies by using the words: sorry / apologize / excuse / should.

  Presentation:

  Ask a few questions on the topic of disabilities. If a person cannot see anything at all, that person is said to be ____ (blind). If a person cannot hear anything at all, that person is said to be ____ (deaf).

  People who are blind can learn to read books that are printed in a special way. What is the name of this writing system? (Braille)

  Talk about the picture and describe what they can see.

  Introduction to the writer:

  The writer is Helen Keller (1880-1968), an American writer and lecturer. In 1887 Annie Sullivan came to look after her and became Helen’s teacher and lifelong companion. Helen Keller made rapid progress at school and in 1904 graduated from Radcliffe College with honors. She published many books and lectured to raise funds for the training of the blind and for other social causes.
