  2.Revise grammar “Agreement ” and “Object Clauses”.

  3.Learn the language points of this passage.

  Teaching procedures:

  Step 1 Revision

  1.Check the homework exercises.

  2.Ask the Ss about gymnastics.

  Step 2 Reading

  Wb. Lesson 35. Ex 2 .Read the text quickly and put these events in the correct order.

  1. As soon as the competition began they stopped talking.

  2. Everyone cheered and clapped ,and came up to congratulate her on her success.

  3. Zhou Lan did very well on two pieces of equipment and on the floor.

  4. She waited with the other gymnasts for the judges to announce the results.

  5. Zhou lan chatted with her fellow gymnasts before the competition started.

  6. It was announced that Zhou Lan won the first place.

  7. She went up to thank her trainer for her help. Her trainer was delighted.

  8. She also gave an excellent performance on the high-and-low bars.

  Step 3 Further reading

  Let the Ss read the passage again carefully and answer the questions in pairs. At the end, check the answers.

  1.Why was Zhou Lan at a disadvantage, compared with some of the other competitors?

  2.How did she feel before the competition?

  3.What kind of person do you think Zhou Lan is?

  4. How do you think some of other girls were feeling before the competition started?

  5. In what way was it clear that she had done well.

  Step 6 Practice

  Page 52, Part 2. Do the first two sentences orally with the whole class and get the Ss to work through the exercise in pairs. Check the answers at the end.

  Step7 Practice

  Page 53, Part 3. Do the first two sentences orally with the whole class, then get the Ss to whole through the exercise in pairs. Check the answers at the end.

  Step 8 Practice

  Page 53, Part 4.Go through the example and check that the Ss know what to do. Do the first tow orally with the whole class, then let the Ss work through the exercise in pairs.

  Step 9 Practice

  Page53, Part 5. Check that Ss know what to do. Let the Ss work through the exercises one by one orally.

  Step10 Homework

  1.Finish off the Workbook exercises.

  2.Retell this passage in your own words.
