  Teaching Objectives:

  复习link verbs的运用;

  掌握有关看病就医的表达用语;

  提醒人们要注意健康。

  Language Focus:

  every five minutes, look over, I’m afraid. . . , take enough/more exercise, instead of, 1ook over

  Properties: Recorder, Overhead projector,课件

  Teaching Procedures:

  Step 1 Revision

  1.Revise the linking verbs by asking students to make sentences with them.

  The apple tastes delicious.

  They want to be a teacher when they grow up.

  His mother looks younger than she is.

  2. Revise the expression about being ill.

  What’s your trouble? What’s the matter?

  There’s nothing serious.

  I don’t feel well.

  Take the medicine three times a day.

  Step 2 Listening

  Say Mr. Brown’s head hurts. What part of his head hurt?

  Play the tape for the students to find out the answer.

  Let the student read through the questions in Wb Ex. 1.

  Play the tape again and ask the students to say out the main idea.

  Have them do the exercises.(呈现听力测试课件,点击声音让学生再听一遍录音,边听边完成练习)

  Finally check the answers with the whole class.

  Step 3 Match

  Ask the students to do the match exercise in pairs. Make sentences.

  Pay attention to the usage of link verbs.

  1. She looked tired, but she soon felt better.

  2. He always seems very quiet, but sometimes he makes trouble.

  3. He wanted to be a great singer, but he became a doctor instead.

  4. She looks like her sister, but she’s much younger.

  5. This dress is a bit old, but it still looks nice on you.

  T: Then ask the students to read the sentences again.

  Try to encourage them to make more sentences.

  Step 4 reading

  Have the students to look at the picture. Let them guess what the story is about.

  Play the tape for the students to listen. Ask: What’s wrong with Mrs. Brown?

  Teach the word instead. Explain the words and phrases:

  instead of, enough, thin, every five minutes, 1ook over,  I’m afraid... take, enough (more) exercise  

  Explain the difference between instead of and instead.

  Ask the students to read the dialogue more carefully. Get them to discuss the questions after reading

  Check the answer.

  Play the tape again for the students to listen and repeat. Get the students to read the dialogue in pairs: Mrs. Brown and her doctor.

  Then call out several pairs to act out the dialogue in class.

  Step 5 Writing

  先让学生讨论如何防止生病,比如平时要注意运动,要注意饮食与卫生。可以让学生谈谈平时自己在这些方面的经验。

  Get the students to read through the phrase about how to keep healthy.

  Then have them work individually to write the letter to their pen friend. Tell them they can choose the phrases from the following thins.

  Step 6 Exercises in class

  Translate the following sentences into English.

  1.你最好去看看你的病。

  2.快点!只剩下五分钟了。

  3.我感到有点害怕。

  4.他的老师经常在英语学习上帮助他。

  5.你务必照顾好你的儿子

  6.他们二个人都不是医生。

  7.最好多锻炼。

  8.她每天早晨都收听天气预报。

  9.希望你暑假过得快乐!

  10.英语与汉语一样重要。

  2. Hurry up! There’s only five minutes left.

  3. I feel a little afraid.

  4. His English teacher often helps him with his English study.

  5. Make sure you look after your son well.

  6. Neither of them is a doctor.

  7. It’s best to take more exercise.

  8. She listens to the weather report every morning.

  10. English is as important as Chinese.

  Step 7  Homework

  1. Finish off the workbook exercises.

  2. Write a letter to your pen friend.
