Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Revision
Revise the usage of must and mustn’t. (by talking about the traffic rules)
e.g. You must wait if the traffic light is red.
You mustn’t cross the street when the light is red.
Get students to use must and must not to give some school rules.
e.g. You must do eye exercises every day.
You mustn’t make faces in class.
Step 2 Leading-in
让学生分组谈谈自己排队等车,排队上车,排队买票等经历。谈谈是否有让人不愉快的加塞现象,并谈谈他们当时的感受。然后让学生讨论他们对这种行为的认识,有没有必要提倡排队等待。
Have the students discuss the pre=reading questions.
Step 3 Reading
Get the students to look at the picture and guess the meaning of the story.
This is a doctor’s waiting room in a hospital.
The people are waiting for the doctor to come.
Some people are sitting on the long chair, one person is standing on the left, on the right there are two persons, they are a doctor and a patient. What happens to the doctor and the woman.
Have the students read the passage and answer Was the queue jumper really a queue jumper?
Explain the new words and expressions visitor, live, hurt, mistake wait in line, laugh at = make fun of, at the head of /at the end of
Play the tape(或者利用课文跟读课件)for the students to practise reading the text.
Ask the students to retell it in their own words.
