一、教学目的和要求(Teaching aims and demands

 1.       知识目标

  A.      学习下列新单词和词组:set, set off, pleasant, here and there, on watch, look out, in front, hole

  B.      日常交际用语: please make room for me.

                   I must go with them.

                   Women and children were the first to get into the lifeboats.

  C.      复习冠词以及过去进行时态的用法

 2.能力目标:培养学生听说读写的英语交际综合能力。

 3.情感目标:通过让学生学习有关Miss Evans 主动让位,牺牲自己生命的感人故事,对学生进行情感教育,教学时应当让学生设身处地地想想这种英雄的行为,使这故事对我们学生有所启发。

课文中出现的新生词和词组

过去进行时态的复习和运用

三、教学难点(difficult points

  pleasant, sink, thankful, set off等单词和词组的正确运用。

  过去进行时态掌握和灵活运用

四、教学方法(Teaching methods

  1.       通过小组合作讨论活动,使学生用中学,学中用。

  2.       通过想一想、议一议、说一说、听一听等形式激发学生学习的兴趣。

六、教学过程(Teaching Procedures

Step1. 以歌引议,激发兴趣

  1.  Show some pictures about the film Titanic and start the song of “My heart will go on”.

  2.  Show the students three questions

   a.       Do you know the name of the song?

   b.       Do you know anything about the ship Titanic?

   c.       Can you say something about the sad story of Titanic?

  3.       Show the picture of “the heart of Ocean”(海洋之心) and tell the students something about the ship. The ship Titanic has 883 feet long, and 92feet wide. Its weight is 46,328 tons.

  4.       T: Now let’s see some pictures about Titanic and talk about them.

   ( Show some pictures and teach the new words and phrases in the text.)

   1). A new ship set off from England to America on its first trip.

   2).The trip was very pleasant.

   3).People can see iceberg here and there.

   4).The man on watch shouted, “Look out! Iceberg! Iceberg in front!”

   5).There was a big hole in the ship and water began to come inside.

   6).Slowly the ship started to sink.

   7).Please make room for me.

   8)Take my place!

   9).Women and children were the first to get into the lifeboats.

Step 2. 师生互动,由浅入深

  1.  T: Now since we have talked a lot about Titanic and we also have known a great woman .Next we will see a short film about the great woman. first let’s look at two questions.

 A.      What’s wrong with the ship?(The ship hit the iceberg and had a big hole)

 B.      Who gave the room to the mother?(Miss Evans)

  2.  T: Now we ‘re going to see the film again and more questions are waiting for us to answer.

   a.       when did the story happen?

   b.       Where did the ship set off?

   c.       How many people were there on that ship?

   d.       What was the weather like on that day?

   e.       What would people see here and there?

   f.        How was the ship after hitting the iceberg?

   g.       Who were the first to get into the lifeboats?

   h.       How many people lost their lives at last?

   i.         Do you know where Miss Evans was going at that time?

   (Students answer the questions one by one.)

Step3  精讲多练,复习巩固

  1.T: We have known much about the text and Miss Evans. Next we’ll do some exercises about the text. First match the phrases:

   A.      Sink                           1.happy

   B.      set off                          2.go down

   C.      lifeboat                         3.be careful

   D.     pleasant                         4.begin a trip

   E.      look out                         5.sit in one’s seat

   F.      on watch                        6.give one’s seat to

  2.       Fill in the blanks according to the text.

  3.       Do some exercise

   a.       Do you enjoy ______(oneself) at the party?

   d.       There ________(will be )a strong wind this evening.

   e.       What ____ you _____(do) at ten this morning?

Step 4巩固拓展,延伸课外

  T: This class we have learned Miss Evans who is a very great woman. At last we’ll have a discussion. There are two questions waiting for you.

  (A). What can you learn from the story?

  (B). What would you do if you were Miss Evans?

Step5 布置作业

  Write a short passage about a great man/woman/girl/boy according Miss Evans.
